Disco Fever
Chapter 1
"I Love the Nightlife" blasted on AJ's stereo. "Nicole, you and this 70's shit has got to stop," said AJ. Nicole laughed. "You were enjoying it a few minutes ago," she said. "A few minutes ago I was enjoying something else," said AJ. Nicole smiled and gave AJ a long, slow kiss. Then she rolled out of his bed and got dressed. "Alright, J.J." said Nicole, "I gotta go." She put on a pair of AJ's sunglasses. Then she blew him a kiss and left, closing the door behind her. When she reached the front door, she saw Howie walking up the driveway. "Hey, D," she said. "Back again, huh?" said Howie. "Yeah," said Nicole. "I'm just so good." "Whatever, Nicole," said Howie. She laughed. "You know you want this," she said as she got in her car. She started her car and waved goodbye to Howie.
Chapter 2
"Where have you been?" said Krystal. "Disco dancing with AJ," Nicole replied. "You know, you two do that a lot," said Krystal. "It's what we do best," said Nicole, smiling. "It'd be nice if you two were actually a couple," said Krystal. Nicole sighed. "You wanna go out tonight?" she said. "Where?" said Krystal. "We haven't been out to the clubs in a while," said Nicole. "You actually want to go?" said Krystal, surprised. "Well, you seem kind of sad ever since you broke up with Howie," said Nicole. "I just want to cheer you up." "I'll get over it," said Krystal. "We were never really compatible, anyway. I'll never understand why you don't like clubs." "I like them," said Nicole," it's just not something I like to do as often as you." "You don't know how to have fun," said Krystal.
Chapter 3
"Aw, yeah! That's my song," said Krystal as she danced her way into the crowd of people, dragging Nicole behind her. "I'll be right back," Nicole shouted into Krystal's ear. Krystal yelled, "okay," and continued dancing with the guy she was dancing with. Nicole searched the club with her eyes for a place to sit down. She saw a cute guy sitting by himself. When she went to go talk to him, she saw it was Brian. "Hey, B-rok!" she said, tapping him on the shoulder. "Hey, Nikki," he said. "What are you doing here?" said Nicole. "I'm here with AJ and Kevin," said Brian. "They're out on the dance floor somewhere." "Come dance with me while I find AJ," said Nicole. She grabbed his arm and pulled him onto the dance floor. Just then, a slow song started. Nicole wrapped her arms around Brian's neck and he wrapped his arms around her waist. As Nicole stared into Brian's eyes and he into hers, the music seemed to get softer. She felt herself wanting to stay in Brian's arms. Brian leaned toward her, bringing his face close to hers. Nicole closed her eyes. She opened them when she felt Brian pulling away from her. Someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around to find AJ standing behind her. She smiled. "Hey, James," she said, giving him a hug. "I was looking for you." "Well, here I am," said AJ. He grabbed her hand. "Let's dance." "Bye, Brian," said Nicole, as AJ pulled her away. Brian waved. Nicole loved dancing with AJ. He made her look bad but she liked dancing with the best dancer in the club. People began to crowd around them. Nicole backed away from AJ and began chanting, "Go AJ! Go AJ!" Soon, everyone joined her. She saw Kevin sitting down in a chair, drinking something out of a glass. "Hey, Kev," she said, sitting down in a chair across from him. She scooted the chair sideways so she could view the dance floor. "Hey, Nicole," said Kevin. "Why aren't you dancing?" "As if I would actually try to look as good as AJ when I dance," said Nicole. "Where's Brian?" "He left," said Kevin. "Brian doesn't know how to have fun," said AJ, pulling up a chair. "Where'd you go?" AJ asked Nicole. "Here," she answered. "Did you see Krystal?" "A few minutes ago," said AJ. "Okay," said Nicole. "I had to make sure she didn't leave." AJ laughed. "Shut up, AJ,"said Nicole. "What?" said Kevin, confused. "It's happened before," said Nicole. "And it WASN'T funny." She glared at AJ, who was still laughing. A remix of a song came on with Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" playing in the background. AJ grinned at Nicole and glanced downward. Nicole blushed and smiled. AJ stood up and held his hand out to Nicole. "Kevin, we're, uh, leaving now," said Nicole, taking AJ's hand. "Bye, Kev," said AJ. "Wait," said Nicole," do you have a ride home?" "Oh, damn! I forgot Brian left," said Kevin. "Maybe Krystal can give you a ride home," said AJ. "AJ, give your boy a ride home,"said Nicole. "I was only kidding," said AJ. "Let's go."
Chapter 4
AJ and Nicole kissed as AJ tried to unlock the front door. When they got inside AJ's house, AJ pinned her to the wall, kissing her face and neck. Nicole closed her eyes, enjoying his kisses. Suddenly, she felt someone watching her. Her eyes popped open and she saw Brian looking at them with an uncomfortable look on his face. She let out a small scream, causing AJ to jump away from her. He bumped into Brian, who stumbled backwards and tripped on the rug."Brian, are you okay?" said Nicole, as he got up. AJ and she had been too shocked to move. "Yeah," said Brian. "I really appreciate your helping me up." "What are you doing here?" said AJ. "Well, I wanted to ask you something," said Brian, hesitating. "But, I'll ask you later." "What is it?" said AJ. "Never mind," said Brian. "Bye. I'll let myself out." He left.
Chapter 5
AJ was lying face down on the couch. Nicole was sitting on top of him, massaging his back. "You want to go shopping with me today?" asked Nicole. "Yeah, sure," said AJ. "I need a new pair of sunglasses since you stole my other ones." "And I'm gonna steal another pair today," said Nicole. "I look good in them. It's not like you don't have dozens of pairs of sunglasses." "Watch it, chick," said AJ. "I need a pair to replace them." Nicole laughed. "Would you get me something to drink?" asked AJ. "I am not your maid," said Nicole, slapping him on the back as she got up to get him a drink. "Ow, Nicole, that hurt," said AJ. "You should do that more often."
Chapter 6
"Hey, where have you been all night?" asked Krystal when Nicole got back to their apartment. "At AJ's," said Nicole. "I need to change. We're going shopping. Want to go?" "No," said Krystal. "I didn't get any sleep last night. I'm really tired." "Okay," said Nicole. "AJ should be coming in in a few minutes. He had to park his car." She went down the hall to her room to change. A minute later, someone rang the doorbell. Krystal went to answer the door. "Hey, AJ," she said. "What's up, Kryssie?" said AJ. He kissed her on the cheek and followed her into the kitchen. "Are you coming with us?" asked AJ. "No, I'm going to sleep today," said Krystal. "I was out all night last night and plus, I have a date tonight." "What date?" said Nicole, entering the kitchen. "With-" Krystal started. She was interrupted by the doorbell. Nicole answered it. "Hey, Brian," she said, surprised. "Come on in." "Hey, Nicole," said Brian. He followed her to the kitchen. "Hey, Brian," said Krystal and AJ. "Hey, is your date with Brian?" AJ asked Krystal. "No," said Krystal. "No offense, Brian. I know that sounded kind of harsh. Actually, I'm going out with Nick tonight." "How did that happen?" asked Nicole. "I have no idea," said Krystal. "Okay, if I don't stop this now, you two are going to spend all day talking about this," said AJ. "Are you ready to go?" Nicole gave him a look. "Yes, Alex," she said. "Bye, Krystal. Bye, Brian." "Bye," said AJ. "So, why are you here?" Krystal asked Brian when Nicole and AJ had left. "You don't really come by that often." "Well, I wanted to talk to Nicole but I couldn't with AJ here," said Brian. "Are he and Nicole a couple?" "Whoa," said Krystal. "You like Nicole? When did this happen?" "Well, last night at the club," started Brian. "We almost kissed." "Why didn't you?" asked Krystal. "AJ showed up and I'd never kiss his girlfriend," Brian replied. "Well, they're not an official couple," said Krystal. "They're just really good friends." "Didn't seem that way at AJ's house," said Brian. "Oh, that," said Krystal. She smiled. "I don't know. But they're not a real couple. Only friends. You should really ask Nicole." "Yeah," said Brian.
Chapter 7
"That looks good on you," said AJ, looking Nicole up and down. "Of course you think that," said Nicole. "Half of my body isn't covered up." AJ laughed. "You still look good," he said. "Can you even see?" asked Nicole. AJ was wearing his new sunglasses. "Why are you wearing those? We're inside." "Because I look good," AJ answered. "Hmmm...I'd look good with those on, too," said Nicole. She laughed and went back into the dressing room. "I don't find that very funny," said AJ. A song played throughout the store. Nicole sang along. "As long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive," she sang quietly. She heard a knock on the door. "Someone's in here," she shouted. The person knocked again. Nicole quickly finished getting dressed and angrily swung the door open. "LOOK, I said-" she stopped when she saw it was AJ. Her expression softened. "What?" "Don't you just love that song?" he said, grinning at her. "AJ, we're in the middle of the store," said Nicole, trying not to smile and not succeeding. "Well, try not to make a lot of noise," said AJ. He kissed her neck, backing her into the dressing room. Nicole laughed and AJ closed and locked the door.
Chapter 8
"Krystal, are you here?" Nicole called when she'd gotten home. "No, she went on her date," Brian called from the living room. Nicole went into the living room and sat next to Brian on the couch. "What are you doing here?" she said, grabbing a handful of chips out of a bowl on the table. "I didn't have anything else to do today so I just hung out here," said Brian. "Is that okay?" "Sure," said Nicole. "I'm gonna go change. I'll be right back." "Okay," said Brian. When she'd changed she went back in the living room and sat on the couch again. "I can't believe Krystal went out with Nick," said Nicole. "Did she tell you how it happened?" "Yeah, I asked her for you," said Brian. "I knew you'd want to know." Nicole smiled. "Thanks," she said. "So what happened?" "Well, Nick and Howie went to the club to look for Kevin, AJ, and I," Brian said. "He ran into Krystal and they started flirting with each other and yada yada yada he asked her out." Nicole sighed. "Yada yada yada? I'll get it from Krystal," said Nicole. "She'll give me details. Like what was said and everything." "I didn't ask all that," said Brian. "Exactly," said Nicole. "I'm going to have to teach you how to do that. If you're ever going to tell me something, I want details." "So, um, what's up with you and AJ?" asked Brian. "What do you mean?" said Nicole. "Well, Krystal and I were talking and she isn't sure if you two are a couple," said Brian. Nicole blinked and tilted her head to the side. She slowly smiled. "You asked about us?" she said. "Why?" "I was, you know, just wondering," said Brian, blushing. Nicole leaned over and kissed him softly. Brian kissed her back in the same manner and then more passionately. He pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist. He stood up, still kissing her, and carried her to her room. He gently layed her down on her bed. He began to kiss her neck. Nicole lifted his shirt off and rubbed her hands up and down his back. Brian removed her shirt and softly kissed her stomach. He took off her bra and kissed her breasts. He moved back up to her neck, trailing his tongue on her body. Nicole closed her eyes as he did this. He stepped out of his pants and gently pulled off Nicole's shorts. He gave her slow, short kisses, stopping to admire her after each kiss. He pulled off her underwear and leaned down to kiss her again, running his hand over her body. He slowly entered her, tenderly kissing her lips. Nicole let out a soft sigh. She leaned her head back as Brian moved in and out of her. She ran her nails down his back as she softly moaned.
Chapter 9
Nicole awakened to Brian kissing her face. She smiled. "Morning," said Brian. He kissed her softly on her forehead. "Hey," said Nicole, sleepily. Brian turned her around so that her back faced him and wrapped his arms around her waist. He snuggled his face in her hair and then rested his head on the pillow. "Brian?" said Nicole. "Yeah?" he said. "What does this mean?" she asked. "What did last night mean?" She turned around to face him. "Well, what do you want it to mean?" said Brian. "I kind of thought it meant we were, you know, that I was your girlfriend," said Nicole. "I'm not sure I liked that answer, Brian." "I'm sorry," said Brian. "It's not that I don't want us to be together. I do. I just wasn't sure of what you wanted." "Why are you not sure?" said Nicole. "Because of AJ," said Brian. "You really need to let him know." "I know," said Nicole.
Chapter 10
"Hey, Krys," said Nicole. She found Krystal sitting in the kitchen drinking a glass of orange juice. "Hey Nicole," said Krystal. "How was your date?" said Nicole, pouring two glasses of orange juice. "Why are you pouring TWO glasses of orange juice?" asked Krystal. "I already have one." "How was your date?" Nicole asked again. "Why are you avoiding my question?" said Krystal. "Is AJ here?" "I'll answer your question after you answer mine," said Nicole. "It was fun," said Krystal. "I don't see anything happening between us, though. First we went to a movie and out to eat. Then we went for a walk. He's a really great guy but I see him as more of a friend." "That's what you said about Howie and look what happened," said Nicole. "Whatever," said Krystal. "Now answer my question." Nicole sighed happily, then smiled as Brian entered the kitchen. "I guess that answers my question," said Krystal. "Hi, Brian." "Hey," he said, picking up his glass. "How'd it go last night?" "We had a nice time," said Krystal. "So, uh, what's this?" "THIS is us," said Nicole. "Nicole, can I talk to you?" said Krystal, heading toward the living room. Nicole followed her. "What?" said Nicole when they were alone. "Does AJ know about this?" said Krystal. "I didn't even know until last night," said Nicole. "How do you think AJ's gonna take it?" said Krystal. "I don't know," Nicole replied. "I mean, it's not like I'm his girlfriend." "Are you sure about that?" said Krystal.
Chapter 11
"Hey, AJ," said Nicole when he picked up the phone. "Hey baby," he said. "What's up? "I need to talk to you," said Nicole. "So, is it okay if I come over?" "It's always okay for you to come over," said AJ. "Are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine," said Nicole. "It's nothing really serious, just important. And I need to tell you in person." "Well, why don't I come over there?" said AJ. "Okay," said Nicole. "Bye." "Bye," said AJ.
Chapter 12
"Hey," said AJ, giving Nicole a kiss. "Hey, J," said Nicole. They sat down on the couch in the living room. "What's so important?" said AJ. "I-I just wanted to tell you that I can't go to your house tonight," said Nicole. "Well, you could've called," said AJ. He gave her a sly grin. "Oh, I see," he said, leaning in to kiss her. Then he sat up and pulled out a cd. "Look what I brought," he said. "Disco Fever?" said Nicole, reading the cover. "Yep," said AJ. He put the cd into the cd player and sat on the floor. He held his arms out to her. Nicole hesitated for a minute and then joined him on the floor.
Chapter 13
"Hey Krys," said Nicole when Krystal got back. "Hey," said Krystal. "Did you tell AJ?" 'Uh, yeah," said Nicole. "He took it pretty well." "Is he still here?" asked Krystal. "No," said Nicole. "He left. Brian's coming over in a few minutes." "So, you REALLY like Brian, huh?" said Krystal. "Yes," said Nicole. "I never realized it. I guess I was so caught up with AJ that I didn't notice." The doorbell rang and then the phone. "I'll get the door," said Nicole. "That doesn't really leave ME a choice of what to get now, does it?" said Krystal, sarcastically. She picked up the phone as Nicole went to answer the door. "Hello?" said Krystal. "Hey AJ!" "Hey," said AJ. "Is Nicole there?" "Yeah," said Krystal. "You know, I thought you were going to be really upset about Nicole and Brian." "Nicole and Brian?" said AJ. "What do you mean?" "Um, Nicole didn't-?"said Krystal. "AJ, I gotta go. Bye. Nicole!!" yelled Krystal. "What?" Nicole came into the kitchen holding Brian's hand. "AJ just called. Why didn't you tell him?" said Krystal. "You didn't tell him?!" said Brian. "Nicole!" "Look, I'll tell him tomorrow," said Nicole. "I just couldn't do it today." "Don't worry about it now," said Krystal. "He already knows." "Why'd you tell him?" said Nicole. "I didn't mean to," said Krystal. "I was telling him that I was glad he was taking it so well." "Why didn't you just keep your big mouth shut?" yelled Nicole. "Why didn't you tell him the truth?" Krystal screamed back. "Why didn't you tell ME the truth?" "Hey, hey, there's no point in yelling at each other," said Brian. Nicole and Krystal stopped and gave Brian an annoyed look. "Well, what did he say?" said Nicole. "Nothing," said Krystal. "When I realized he didn't know, I hung up." Nicole sighed. "I'm sorry, Krys," said Nicole. "I shouldn't have yelled at you. You didn't know." "It's okay," said Krystal. "What about me?" said Brian. Nicole kissed him. "I'm sorry, Bri," said Nicole. "Give him a kiss for me, too," said Krystal. Suddenly, they heard a loud knock at the door. "Oh shit," said Nicole. "That doesn't sound good." "I'll get it," said Krystal. "No," said Nicole. "I got it." When she opened the door, AJ pushed past her. "AJ, wait," said Nicole. AJ strode into the kitchen and shoved Brian into the wall. "AJ, stop," cried Krystal. "Brian," screamed Nicole. Tears streamed down her face as she watched AJ punch Brian. Once. Twice. She ran up and stood in front of Brian. "Stop," she cried to AJ. She cried out as AJ's fist hit her face. She fell to the ground. "AJ, I can't believe you just did that," said Nicole, holding her jaw. "You slut!" yelled AJ. "Hey Brian. Did she tell you she fucked me today?" Brian closed his eyes and continued to hold Nicole. Nicole was crying so hard she was shaking. "AJ," said Krystal, "that's enough. It's time for you to go home now." AJ left, slamming the door behind him. "Are you okay?" said Brian, wiping Nicole's face. She nodded. "Are you?" said Nicole. "I don't know," said Brian. "Is it true what AJ said?" Nicole started to cry again. "Brian, I'm sorry," she said. "I really am. I didn't know how to tell him. I'm sorry!" "So you just decided to have sex with him instead?" said Brian. "Save it, Nicole! I don't want to hear it!" He slammed the door as he left.
Chapter 14
"Nicole, AJ's here," said Krystal. Nicole sat up. "After what he did yesterday?" said Nicole. "He has some nerve." "Even if you don't want to talk to him, you need to get out of bed," said Krystal. "You can't stay in bed and cry about Brian all day." "Yes, I can,"" said Nicole, getting out of bed. "But right now, I SHOULD talk to AJ." "I'll send him in," said Krystal. Nicole sat on her bed and waited. AJ came into her room holding a single red rose. He sat next to Nicole and handed her the rose. "Baby, I'm sorry," said AJ. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine," said Nicole. She tossed the rose onto her nightstand. "AJ what the fuck is wrong with you?" Nicole said. "What were you thinking by charging in here and beating on Brian like that? And why the hell did you think a rose would make it better?" "I didn't," said AJ. "I thought it would just calm you down a little." "Well, it didn't," said Nicole. "I didn't mean to punch you, Nicole," said AJ. "I really didn't see you there. And I guess I was too angry to realize what I'd done and apologize for it," said AJ. "Why were you angry?" asked Nicole. "Because, Nicole, I love you," said AJ. "And I thought that once we were through fucking around, we'd have a serious relationship." "Damn it, AJ," said Nicole. "You should've told me this a long time ago. I used to love you." "Why'd you stop?" asked AJ, somewhat hurt. "Remember when we used to date in high school?" she said. AJ nodded. "And do you remember why we broke up?" asked Nicole. AJ turned away from her and stared at something in front of him. "Yes," he said finally. "You said our relationship was completely physical and sexual," said Nicole. "I told you I agreed but I really didn't. I thought that once we were through 'fucking around,' we'd start a real relationship." "Nicole, I-" started AJ. "Pretty soon, I realized you were right," Nicole continued. "And I started to think of how we were better as friends. I mean, geez, AJ. We slept together on our third date because we couldn't keep our hands off of each other." "And you and Brian are just that perfect for each other?" said AJ. "Maybe we'll last, maybe we won't," said Nicole. "But I want to try." "I'm sorry I hurt you, Nicole," said AJ. "I just didn't feel this way then. And I guess you don't feel that way now." "I wish I did considering Brian wants nothing to do with me," said Nicole. "Oh shit," said AJ, laughing. "Nic, I am so sorry." 'Yeah, you're going to pay for that, boy," said Nicole, shoving him playfully.
Chapter 15
"Hi Brian," said Nicole when he opened the door. "Hey," he said. "Can I come in?" said Nicole. Brian shrugged and let her in. "So, um, how are you?" said Nicole, sitting down. "Nicole, why?" said Brian. "I thought we were-" "I don't know," said Nicole. "I guess I did it because I'd miss him. Because it would've been our last time. I just felt like I owed him or something." Brian sighed. "And that was the last time?" he said. "Yes," said Nicole. "I never want to hurt you like that again." Brian walked over to the couch and sat down next to Nicole. He put his arms around her and layed back, pulling her on top of him. He gave her a kiss. "You want to go out to eat tonight?" said Brian. "Yeah, sure," said Nicole. "And maybe a movie before that?" said Brian. "Sounds good," said Nicole. She rested her head on his chest. "So, have you spoken to AJ, yet?" asked Brian. "Yeah," said Nicole. "He came over today and we had a good talk." "I'm not going to get punched again, am I?" said Brian. Nicole laughed. "I don't think so," said Nicole. They were quiet for a moment. "Nicole?" said Brian. "Hmm?" said Nicole, lifting her head up to look at him. "What's disco dancing?" he asked. "I remember you and AJ joking about that." "Do you have a radio in your room?" asked Nicole. "Yes," said Brian, confused. "Let's go check it out and I'll show you," said Nicole. Just as Brian was about to lead her to his room, the doorbell rang. "Damn!," said Brian. "I'll get it." "I would hope so," said Nicole. "It's your house." 'Hmm...maybe it's my NEW girlfriend," said Brian, giving her a look. "Ha..ha," said Nicole, smiling. Brian went to answer the door while Nicole waited on the couch. She jumped when she heard a loud thud. "Damn!" she heard Brian say. Suddenly, AJ burst into the room. "AJ! What-?" she said, jumping to her feet. "Nicole, I'm sorry," said AJ. He pulled out a gun from under his jacket and held it to his head. "AJ, what are you doing?" she cried. He took off his sunglasses and threw them to her. "I love you, Nicole," he said. "AJ!" Nicole screamed as AJ shot himself. She fell to her knees, sobbing, as Brian came running into the room. She quickly crawled to AJ and held him in her arms. "No," she said over and over, shaking her head. Brian pulled her away from AJ's body and hugged her. "I love you, too, AJ," she said into Brian's shoulder.
Chapter 16
"Do you reallize it's been two weeks since AJ's death?" said Nicole to Krystal. Krystal nodded. "I'm sorry," said Nicole. "I was just thinking about it. Why'd he do it in front of me?" "I guess he was just trying to prove his love for you," said Krystal. "Damn it, AJ!" Nicole said. She started to cry. Krystal reached her arms out to hug her but Nicole shook her away. "I'm fine," said Nicole. She began to walk to her room. "When Brian gets here, tell him I'm in my room," said Nicole. "How's she doing?" said Brian when he'd arrived. "She still cries when anyone mentions his name," said Krystal. "But at least she's talking now. Where have you been the past week?" "My dad got really sick and I had to go see him," said Brian. "I came back as soon as he was well. Is she upset?" "Only about AJ," said Krystal. "Howie and Nick came to see her a few days ago." "Kevin said he'd come by tomorrow," said Brian. "So, I heard you and Howie are dating again." Krystal smiled. "Yes," she said. "We started talking and one thing led to another.." "Well, that's great," said Brian. "So, where is she?" "She's in her room," said Krystal. Brian went to Nicole's room. "Hey," said Nicole, smiling. "How are you?" said Brian, sitting on her bed. Nicole drew in a deep breath. "I'm fine," she said. "How's your dad?" "He's better now," said Brian. "I'm sorry I couldn't be here." "It's okay," said Nicole. "I haven't been talking a whole lot."
